Bleak house
In this literary drama of bleak house we get a lot of low key lighting to convey a mild, traditional atmosphere. With this we can understand the historical time this was created in and understand the current situation they lived in. Near the beginning on the clip we see a lot of blue filter lighting that is used to on top of the low key lighting to illustrate the surrounding to be spooky atmosphere and the rain that is falling down heavy at this point.

Rome clip-analysis
Rome clip
The Rome clip that I’m analysing features several camera shots that illustrate the whole scene and creates a mild atmosphere. To begin with we have an establishing shot of the whole location that conveys the enormous building the people are in and on top on that we can see the status on the characters so without them even speaking we have already got a clear understanding on the scene. To add to the status all the characters have on similar robes that helps us understand that this is a period drama as the outfits they are wearing is from a period in history. The director immediately straight after cuts in to a medium close up of the only character standing up, with this we are able to understand that he is the person we should focus on. The director put the main character close in the frame but also included the other characters in the background to express their presences and this was emphasised with the main character in focus looking around the whole building to show how big the place is and to also let us know that there is people of high status dressed like him all around him. The main character in focus speaks with a with a lot of class and this helps in understanding the character that he is and at this point there is only one type of sound and that is the character in focus. We don’t hear any other sound apart from when the character in focus summons Creaser to come and talk. This is done to illustrate the importance of the character speaking and the respect the people around him as they didn’t make any sound at all and there is no ambient sound as well. When Caesar walks in where automatically get the idea that he is of high status and this is because of the digetic (applause) that we hear in the background and they do this to show respect and affection for the personal that has just appeared. The director now wants us to focus on Caesar and his expressions in what he is saying and this is done with a several close up shots of the character when he is speaking. Caesar who we know of having high status talks with more authority to add emphasis to what he is talking about and to also add to the emphasis of his status in comparison to everyone else and on top of that he sits down rather than standing up like the previous speaker . When he is sitting down we see the leafs he has on his head that he is wearing as head gear and this is to do with the period drama and his status and this conveys to us that he is the highest authority of everyone there………………………………………………………….(didn’t finish)
